good friend of the fam & all around renaissance man, mark "showdown" medley, headed out to the warm sunny beaches of hawaii w/his lovely wife.
the least he could do is throw down one last time w/the incredible bob showdown & that raw good shit from the moltyverse @ the mohawk.
good friends were there to wish our friends good travels: unwed fathers + watching the moon + like dogs + jesse moore/hobomouth + bridge farmers [sorry for leaving early & not shootin' all the bands, it was a loooooong weekend of debauchary & had to work the next day. bwaaaaah bwaaaaaah bwaaaaaah!!!]

mainly 'cause smizno will be going back to teaching in the fall & there won't be as many shows.
anyway, it was a family affair @ mohawk's inside stage w/shitty carwash, los bridge farmers & watching the moon w/a new drummer [good job boys!]

there were so many cute couples i nearly shit my jorts.

free week 2010

this year i did not get a chance to revel in the amazingness that is free week.
it was free week on steroids. there were waaaaay more venues. waaaaay more bands. waaaay more fun. it seemed like a smaller/cooler version of sxsw.
it all started waaaaay back in the evening january 8th, 2010.
@ the mohawk i got to check out cartright.
@ the parish the house was packed for auto body & l.a.x.
@ booty bar betaplayer & prince klassen held it down.

it all ended the next evening @ red 7 & a little jaunt to the music gym.
on 1st was watching the moon then the boys from eagle claw, & finally shitty carwash.

subcomandante quito does the holidaze!

took a break during the xxxmas break to visit family & decided that since everyone has a goddamned point-n-shoot, i would go on a vacation from fotog'n.
soon as i got back my homies @ plush asked me to take pictures of the staff/regulars holiday party. we even had a santa givin' away some tasty coke-zero!
thanks to jake, mez, skinny, seij & everyone else @ my fave dive bar! <3 y'all!

the end of that devil decade came & went anticlimactically. i was supposed to work, but then didn't [kinda wanted to make a lil' scratch]. figured the best way to end the year is with the peeps i know & love.
stopped by the mohawk & cheered on my homies manolo black & dj pagame warmin' up the outdoors crowd, then kicked it w/hobo d & orión keepin' it toasty indoors. it was a great year w/my peligrosa all stars brothers.
rang the new one in w/the fam @ plush.
afterparty @ the music gym w/the peen scene, cauze one, dubbel dutch, pagame, parson & all the die-hard partiers!

2 live crew @ mohawk, say what! @ plush, trouble & bass crew @ booty, & after party @ music gym! june 25th 2009

hawt diggity! this was an EPIC night!
started out @ rabbit's on e. 6th shootin' the filmin' of sonido boombox's intro [can't show this foto set 'til the video's debut], then book'd it majorly to mohawk so i could "sneak" in w/orión & his gear, drank some brews, hung out w/the honeys from avant salon, got some shots of the openin' acts [richardhenry/orión, ms. prissy, dubb sicks & dmg$], then 2 live crew got on stage & got the big/small booty h0@s to shake it on the dance floor!

i kinda got fed up w/the show & roll'd to plush for some bassline/electro/fidget/bmore courtesy of mez one, cauze one, dubbel dutch & orión. got totally blitzed & "high w/a little help from my friends". even got to dance w/some lovely birds!

still had a lil' bit of time to check out the trouble & bass crew @ booty bar. DANG! those kids seriously bring the noize. i really wanna catch an entire set by these cats!
after hours was a must for so many great shows on the 7th/red river district. music gym did not disappoint! it was a total sweaty mess w/king louie, orión & anna love on the 1's & 2's. seems like everyone who came out to mohawk/plush/booty decided to prolong the night @ the gym.
wherever mj went, he must've been lookin' up/down on tons of kids dancin' the night away! such bittersweet night...
@ around 3:30am i somehow ;) managed to sober up enough to realize that it was time to ride home, sleep 4 hours & get to work...
just another thursday night?

consider the source and betaplayer @ mohawk may 20th 2009

the mohawk hosted the last consider the source show...

seems like there's been a few of these goodbye shows lately. betaplayer played their first show w/CST, so it was fitting that they also played on their last.

in addition to the farewell, at midnight we got to celebrate james' [now ex-CST drummer, current bankrupt & the borrowers drummer & 1/2 of quito & the bone] 28th birthday. hope you had a good one buddy! & best of luck to the CST boys in their future endeavors!
